Founder and CEO

Philipp Buddemeier

Philipp Buddemeier is one of the leading experts in sustainable business, circular economy, and DeepTech innovation.

As Founder and CEO of Better Earth, he advises and supports mid-sized companies in developing and successfully implementing sustainable business models. Based in Berlin, his company follows a pragmatic approach that integrates sustainability objectives with robust business and financial metrics. His client portfolio includes companies such as Otto, Haniel, and Ravensburger.

He is also Co-Founder and General Partner of Marvelous, a DeepTech venture capital fund investing in three key future domains: novel materials, circular solutions, and robotics. Marvelous’ mission is to drive Europe’s next wave of innovation in key industries through DeepTech and to fundamentally transform the fight against climate change. One example is Nanoplume, a New York–based startup developing a super-insulating, biodegradable, and cost-effective biomaterial for building envelopes.

Career and Experience

Philipp Buddemeier has more than two decades of experience at the intersection of sustainability and business, gained through roles in NGOs, leading strategy consultancies, and as an investor.

He began his career at Bain & Company before working as an international Change Manager for Save the Children, where he led projects in India, Bolivia, and Uganda. He then returned to strategy consulting — first at McKinsey, and later at Accenture Strategy, where he was among those who built the firm’s Circular Economy practice. Subsequently, he decided to found his own ventures: Better Earth and Marvelous.

Buddemeier holds a Master’s degree in Sinology from the University of Hamburg and an MBA from INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France.

Culture change through scalable remote team coaching

Why we work together:

Many people in large organizations want to act more sustainably. However, they often do not know how to translate this enthusiasm into daily decisions. Clear goals, guardrails, and incentive schemes help, but they need to go hand in hand with lasting enablement of teams and individuals. Together with Remotly, we offer this enablement in a way that avoids the common and often expensive “flash in the pan.” We deliver effective, cost-conscious, and thus scalable support.

About remotly:

remotly systematically and measurably shifts business areas with 20 to 100+ teams to new levels of purpose-orientation, empowerment, and sustainability competency in 3-9 months through remote team coaching on the job.
